# Design Variations

> Set how many design Variations Kombai generates from a single prompt in Design Mode.

Variations determine how many independent design options Kombai generates in a single prompt. Instead of producing one result, Kombai creates multiple versions. Each version takes a different visual direction, so you can compare and pick the one that fits best.

You can set the number of Variations to **1**, **2**, or **3**. The default is **3**.

## Set the number of Variations

1. In the chat box, click the  button to open the Variations popover.
2. Open the **Variations** dropdown and select **1**, **2**, or **3**.

> Some models only generate one variation at a time. For these, the
> **Variations** dropdown is set to **1** and disabled. To request multiple
> variations, ask for them directly in your prompt (for example, "Provide 3
> design variations").
