What are credits

Credits are the standard unit of measurement for Kombai usage. The number of credits a task consumes depends on its complexity and length.

How do credits work

Credits are primarily consumed by two actions:
  • Tool calls: Used for search and planning tools.
  • LLM tokens: Used for generating output.
The specific number of credits consumed by a task is determined by its complexity and duration. Credits are only used during active task processing. Actions like viewing completed tasks, running output in the sandbox, or storing output do not consume any credits. You will not be charged credits for tasks that fail due to a technical issue on our end. We are continuously working to optimize system efficiency and reduce the number of credits consumed per task.

Here are some examples showing how credit usage depends on the task type and its complexity:

How can I get more credits

Free users can get more credits by upgrading to a paid plan:
  • Plus plan: 2,000 credits/month
  • Pro plan: 4,000 credits/month
  • Premium plan: 11,000 credits/month
If you are on a paid plan and run out of credits, you can upgrade to a higher plan at any time. When you do this, the previous plan will be canceled immediately, and a new billing cycle will begin for the new plan.

How to see credits usage

Credit usage history for all your Kombai chats can be tracked on the Account page. You can also see the credits consumed in an individual chat at the end of that chat.
Click
to open the Account page. You’ll see the remaining credits in your plan and your credits usage history.
Click at the end of a conversation. A popover will open, displaying the number of credits used in that chat.

Do credits expire

  1. Unused credits roll over to the next month, up to a maximum of 1x your monthly plan’s credits. For example, if you are on the Plus plan, you can roll over up to 2,000 unused credits.
  2. Your monthly credits refresh automatically on your subscription renewal date each month.

FAQ

  1. Click
    at the top.
  2. Go to Explore Plans.
  3. Click Choose Plan under the plan you want to switch to.
  4. Click Open.
  5. Complete the subscription in Stripe’s portal.
To cancel your subscription, click
-> Manage Plan -> Open. You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s portal, where you can cancel your subscription. Your current plan will remain active until the end of the billing period.
To change your billing information, click
at the top -> Manage Plan -> Open. You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s portal, where you can update your billing details.
To download your invoices, click
-> Manage Plan -> Open. You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s portal, where you can find past invoices.
Your monthly credit limit refreshes on the same date and time your subscription started.
Currently, we don’t offer add-on credits outside of what’s included in your plan. For now, the best way to get more credits is to upgrade your plan.
All new users receive 500 free credits to explore Kombai. Once your free credits are over, you can continue using Kombai by choosing a subscription plan.
